What to Expect During Your Invisalign Journey

What to Expect During Your Invisalign Journey

Thinking about straightening your teeth with clear aligners? At Northlight Dental, we’ve helped many patients achieve a straighter, more confident smile with Invisalign in Milton Keynes. Whether you’re new to orthodontic treatment or switching from another method, understanding the steps of your Invisalign journey can help you feel more prepared.

What Are Invisalign Aligners?

Before starting your journey, you may be wondering, what are Invisalign aligners? Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into a straighter position. These aligners are nearly invisible, removable, and much more comfortable than traditional braces.

Step 1: Consultation with Your Invisalign Dentist

Your Invisalign journey begins with an in-depth consultation with your Invisalign dentist at Northlight. We’ll assess your teeth, discuss your goals, and determine if you’re a suitable candidate. Using 3D digital scanning, we create a precise treatment plan showing how your teeth will move and what your final smile could look like.

Step 2: Receiving Your Aligners

Once your aligners are ready, you’ll return to collect them and learn how to wear and care for them. Each set of Invisalign aligners is worn for about 1-2 weeks before moving on to the next. You’ll need to wear them for 20-22 hours a day, only removing them to eat, drink (except water), and clean your teeth.

Step 3: Progress Checks

Throughout your treatment, you’ll have regular check-ups with your dentist for Invisalign to ensure everything is moving as planned. These appointments are typically every 6-8 weeks and may include minor adjustments or the delivery of your next batch of aligners.

Step 4: Finishing Touches

At the end of your treatment, you’ll receive a final set of aligners or retainers to help maintain your new smile. We’ll also review the results and offer other cosmetic finishing touches if needed.

Thinking about braces but want a discreet option? We also offer fixed braces for patients who may need a different orthodontic approach.
